Game One

The Blue Devils hit a pair of two-run home runs in the early stages of game one to hold a 4-0 advantage following the first three frames. UW-Stout added three more runs in the seventh and another in the eighth to push the gap up to eight.

UW-Platteville found one run in the top of the ninth after junior Sam Meidenbauer led off the inning with a double to left centerfield before coming in to score on a double-play groundout.

Senior Brady Hoppert (3-3) was dealt the loss on the mound, allowing four runs (three earned) across five innings of work while striking out three.

The Pioneers finished with seven hits in the game, with Meidenbauer going 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Sophomore Caleb Parker, freshman Anthony Massa, and senior Justin Fago also reached base multiple times.

Game Two

UW-Stout scored first in game two as well, getting one a sacrifice fly and a second on a wild pitch in the bottom half of the first. The Pioneers were able to erase the deficit over the next couple innings, starting with an RBI groundout by freshman Danny Hodel that brought home Massa in the top of the second. Senior Jake Wegner connected on a two-run home run in the top half of the third to put UW-Platteville in front, and sophomore Connor Gresens homered in the fifth to make it 4-2.

The Blue Devils erased the two-run deficit in the bottom of the fifth, scoring four runs, highlighted by a three-run home run. Wegner got the Pioneers back within one at 6-5 with a sacrifice fly in the seventh, but UW-Stout homered in both the seventh and eighth innings to push the lead back up to 9-5. In the ninth inning, freshman Trinity Beland led off with a double and advanced to third on a single by Parker.
