Joey Fuhremann each scored over 20 points as the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team (2-1) held off Carroll (2-2) to win 88-80 in the final game of the Gabe Miller Classic presented by the DRA on Saturday afternoon from Bo Ryan Court.
After setting a career-high in points yesterday, Lewis surpassed that mark with a team-high 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including 3-of-7 from deep. Seventeen of those points came in the first half as Lewis found success beyond the arc and driving to the rim.
Fuhremann also posted a new scoring high, finishing with 21 points on an efficient 8-of-12 shooting and going 5-of-6 from the free throw line. The senior recorded a double-double in the win, grabbing a team-high 11 rebounds.
Lewis fueled an early surge for UW-Platteville, as he scored 12 of the team's first 18 points to give the home team a 20-12 advantage. Carroll quickly erased that deficit with a 10-point run until freshman

UW-Platteville dominated out of halftime, scoring the first 12 points while holding Carroll scoreless for six minute to open up a 58-42 lead. Freshman
Cooper Hoffman came off the bench and made an impact, scoring eight points over a three-minute span to help increase the lead to 67-48 with 11:29 left. The gap reached a game-high 21 points in the coming minutes, but Carroll answered with a 12-point run to get back within single digits. UW-Platteville shot 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the field and 34.6 percent (9-of-26) from three-point range. From the free throw line, UW-Platteville went 23-of-27 (85.2 percent).
Hoffman joined Lewis and Fuhremann in doubles figures with 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting. Wieczorek was second on the team with 10 rebounds, while MacKenzie finished with a team-high four assists.
Carroll shot 45.5 percent (30-of-66) from the floor and 33.3 percent (8-of-24) from deep. Michael McNabb led the team with 27 points, while Lamar Smith (19 points), and Payton McKenna (17) joined him in double figures.
The Pioneers will hit the road for the first time this season on Wednesday night at North Central. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
