OSHKOSH, Wis. – A penalty kick in the 85th minute combined with senior goalkeeper Emma Ball's stellar performance propelled University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer (10-3-1, 3-1-0) past UW-Oshkosh (4-6-4, 0-2-2) 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Titan Stadium. The victory is the third win against a WIAC opponent this season, an achievement the program has not reached since 2018.
The match remained scoreless through the first 84 minutes of competition, but a foul by Daphne Sieg set up sophomore Anna Spindle for the go-ahead penalty kick goal.
The Titans outshot the Pioneers 25-11, with 11 on target for UW-Oshkosh and four by UW-Platteville, but Ball's performance of 11 saves left the home team scoreless.
With Saturday's victory, the Pioneers reached double-digit wins on the season, a first for the program since the 2010 season.
UW-Platteville will return to action and Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 18 for a 7 p.m. Mental Health Awareness match against Beloit College.
