Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pioneers fall to Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team lost to University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Wednesday night by a score of 58-49. With the loss the Pioneers fall to 14-10 and 7-6 in WIAC play.

The game was a close one throughout with either team's lead never getting bigger than 9 points. The Pioneers defense was never lacking on a night where they forced 19 Warhawk turnovers, while only committing 13 themselves. Platteville did a great job all night defensively to make things tough for Whitewater. The Warhawks shot a subpar 36.7% from the field for the game and only 25.0% from the three-point line. To give up 58 points in a 40-minute game is an impress feat and the Pioneers did that by playing hard and aggressive defensively. The Pioneers offensively had 13 assists to Whitewater's 6.

The Pioneers were led offensively by freshmen Kyle Tuma. Tuma was scorching hot from the field shooting 6-7 from the field which including 5-5 from the three-point line. Tuma also chipped in 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Junior Carter Voelker chipped in 13 points and 4 rebounds.
