PLATTEVILLE, Wis.—The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team lost 10-9 and won 4-2 against visiting team Wisconsin Lutheran College on Thursday.
The first game was an eight-inning contest, as Ellen Davis singled home Karah Ritacco with a run in the top of the eighth. The Pioneers had a runner thrown out at home in the bottom of the eighth, and the Warriors turned a line drive into a double play to end the contest.
In the nightcap,
Rachel Bonnell's two-run home run broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning.
Emily Woodford added a run-scoring triple in the inning.
Jess Butzen went the distance on the mound to earn the victory.
Wisconsin Lutheran College is now 10-20 overall. The Pioneers, 8-22 overall, will play host against UW-River Falls at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, which will also be Alumni Day.
