Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Pioneers Shut Out in Loss

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team lost to the University of Dubuque Spartans 2-0 Sunday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.  This loss drops the Pioneers to 4-3 on the season.

The game began as a defensive battle, as both teams were able to limit their opponents shot attempts. The Spartans got the scoring started on a penalty kick goal from Brianna Burkart at the 29-minute mark in the first half. Dubuque was able to get an insurance goal on a shot from Lauren Cangelosi with under 2 minutes left in the first half. This ended up being all the scoring, as the teams both played strong defense in the second half. The Pioneers held Dubuque to 2 second half shots, but they were able to only take 4 second half shots themselves, and only 5 in the entire game. The victory moves Dubuque to 3-3 on the season.

The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday September 21, 2016 on the road against Lawrence.  The game will be played at 7 p.m.  Lawrence will enter the game with a 1-5 record, with its lone win coming against Lakeland. UW-Platteville will return home Wednesday Sept. 28 against Luther College.
