Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Slow start dooms Pioneers in loss to No. 19 Warhawks

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. —The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team fell to the UW-Whitewater Warhawks 85-58 on Wednesday in Whitewater, falling to 5-17 on the season and 2-9 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Warhawks are currently ranked No. 19 on the d3hoops.com standings.

Junior Elisa Bilderback had a stellar game for the Pioneers, logging 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and made four of her five free throws in the loss.

After falling behind 24-11 after the first quarter, the Pioneers came back in the second to score 18 points to Whitewater's 21, but were still behind 45-29 at the half.

Coming out of the break, the Pioneers couldn't seem to make anything drop, as the Warhawks extended their lead to 66-38 after the third quarter.

The Pioneers picked up their offensive efforts in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points to UW-Whitewater's 19, but the early Warhawk lead was too much to overcome as the WIAC match-up ended at 85-58.

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, Feb. 13 to take on No. 15 UW-River Falls at Williams Fieldhouse at 7 p.m.
