STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team was unable to gain an upper hand Saturday, as the squad lost both contest against the ninth-ranked UW-Stevens Point Pointers.

UW-Stevens Point took game one by a score of 12-0 (7 innings) and won game two 14-8.

Game One

The Pioneers were unable to crack the pitching of UW-SP starter JP Feyereisen, as the blue and orange were victims of a one-hitter.

UW-Stevens Point scored in each of the seven innings played, building an 8-0 lead going into the seventh, where the Pointers added four to end the game via the 10-run rule.

In the fourth inning, the Pioneers mounted their lone threat of the game, as they loaded the bases with one out with the help of a walk and an error, but they were unable to push across a man.

Game Two

UW-Platteville again found itself down quickly in the nightcap, giving up six runs in the first two innings.

The Pioneer bats erupted in their half of the third, running Pointer starter Brad Stroik in just 2.1 innings. Ryan Duva, John Walsh, Casey Schroeder, Tyler Trautsch and George Jester III all recorded RBI hits in the inning.

UW-Stevens Point answered with five of their own in the fourth, and another run in the fifth to push the lead to 12-5.

Jester III drilled a home run to right in the sixth and Zach Demmon scored later in the inning on a wild pitch to cut the lead to five, but the Pointers pushed the lead back up with runs in the seventh and eighth.

Bobby Bean, who led off the Pioneer ninth with a pinch-hit double, was the last man to cross the plate for either team.

Despite the loss, Pioneer second baseman Colin DeBoer tied for the game-lead with three hits out of the nine hole.

The Pioneers and Pointers will take the diamond again Sunday with another doubleheader on tap. Games are scheduled for noon and 3 p.m.
