University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers

Game Recap: Track and Field |

Pioneers Beyond the Numbers: Caitlin Thomson

Junior Caitlin Thomson's performance throughout the indoor track and field season has been consistent and positive as her personality.

The Whitehall, Wis., native has the third-best performance in NCAA Division III in the high jump with her 5-foot, 6.5-inch leap at the North Central College Cardinal Classic Feb. 21.

Thomson will be one of six Pioneers representing the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in Lincoln, Neb.,  at the D-III Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday.

What are three words that describe you?
Positive, determined, and confident

Who inspires you in school and in sports?

I would say my dad. I'm a daddy's girl – I'm an only child and he's always been there for me and been someone I can talk to. He was also my coach when I started out in track.

Do you have any superstitions before a jump or a meet?

Not really, but this season I've had my hair braided every time, so that's been working out pretty well. I also wiggle my fingers a lot before I jump.

What are your plans after you graduate?

I want to move down south – Wisconsin is a little chilly for me. I'd like to go into sports marketing of some type, hopefully with a professional team.

What do you do to relax?

I really like to read a lot – I'm a huge book nerd. Other than that, I play with my dogs and hang out with friends.

What's something that few people know about you?

I can figure skate. I was a figure skater for eight years when I was younger.
