Women's Basketball falls to No. 12 UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. – A tough shooting night by the University Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team overwhelmed the Pioneers in a 72-45 setback to 12-ranked UW-Whitewater on Wednesday night at Kachel Gym.

The Pioneers shot 29 percent from the field and a dingy 6.7 percent from beyond the arc. Junior Alyssa Krajco was the only bright spot, as she led all scorers with 20 points and was 8-of-16 from the floor.

The Warhawks didn't shoot much better than the Pioneers, 35.1 percent from the field, but were 10-of-30 from three-point land. Reilly Stewart led UWW off the bench with 18 points, followed by Kaitlyn Thill with 11.

The Pioneers stayed with the 12-ranked Warhawks for the first 15 minutes and trailed 22-18. UWW finished the final five minutes of the half with a 16-4 run, taking a 38-22 lead into the break.

The Pioneers couldn't get anything going in the second half and could only get within 13 points early in the period.

UW-Platteville will have the weekend off and return to Bo Ryan Court on Wednesday, Feb. 5 against 15-ranked UW-Oshkosh at 7 p.m.
