WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team was nipped by 18th-ranked UW-Whitewater, 2-1, on Wednesday at Whitewater, Wis.
The Pioneers didn't waste anytime to get out on top of the 18th-ranked Warhawks. UW-Platteville's sophomore Julie Divita scored at the 1:21 mark, assisted by fellow sophomore Jessica Butler. UWW tied the game up at 1-1 with an own goal, credited to Jessica Allemang in the fourth-minute. On Warhawks' four and final corner kick in the first half, Natalie Lechner put UWW ahead 2-1 in the 43rd-minute.
In the second half, the Pioneers stayed within striking distance but couldn't find the equalizer as UWW outshot the Pioneers 14-1 in the final half.
The Pioneers move to 7-8-1 and 2-3-1 in conference play, while the Warhawks stay unbeaten at 13-0-3 and 7-0 in league action.
UW-Platteville travels to UW-Oshkosh on Saturday with game time set for 6:30 p.m.
