The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team dropped a 76-66 decision to Concordia University on Friday night in the 2011 Gabe Miller Tip-Off Classic.

The Pioneers (1-1) raced out to an early nine-point lead in the first half, but the visitors clawed back to take its first lead with 6:05 left in the first 20 minutes. Concordia (2-0) took a five-point lead to start the second half but the Pioneers were able to cut deficit to as little as one on a pair of occasions. Each threat by the Pioneers was answered by the Falcons, who came back with a 7-1 spurt, late in the half. In the spurt, Ben Brooke hit a 3 pointer at the 6:33 mark with the shot clock winding down. Doedens was not alone in double figures as Mitchell Schneider added 22 to the winning cause. Nick Doedens and Brooke each had nine valuable points.

The Pioneers did get a pair of career-best performances in the loss, junior Rob Stallion scored a career-high 17 points and senior B.J. Litz had a career-high eight points and four rebounds. UW-Platteville will close out the two-day tournament when they host North Park, who won the first game of the day by a 54-52 margin over WIAC member, UW-Eau Claire.
