UW-Eau Claire rallied from a 23-14 deficit with three straight touchdowns to beat visiting UW-Platteville 34-26 Saturday.
The Pioneers closed within eight on Tony Smidl's record-tying field goal with 1:15 to play, but the Blugolds recovered the on-sides kick and ran out the clock.

The Pioneers increased the margin to 23-14 on Smidl's 32-yard field goal with 9:12 remaining in the third quarter and a career-long 44-yarder five minutes later.
UWEC cut the margin to 23-21 on Brett Schreiner's 45-yard pass from Kyle Paulson, then took the lead four plays after the Pioneers fumbled the kickoff. Cory Sartorelli ran in from two yards for his second score of the day, then he kicked the extra point for a 28-23 Blugold lead.
A 14-play, 92-yard drive that consumed 8:14 culminated in another Schreiner TD from Paulson, covering 5 yards for a 34-23 lead with 5:25 remaining.
Both offensives showed plenty of firepower in the shootout, with the hosts gaining 439 yards and the visitors 342.
The Pioneers' Shadley completed 22 of 39 passes for 288 yards and the one score, with Aunton Terry catching 10 passes for 98 yards and Darin Blaser 4 for 60. Spehn also made 4 receptions, including his touchdown. Roscoe, who had 17 career yards coming into the contest, gained 81 yards on 20 carries.
