First Game
The Pioneers (11-8) had an uphill battle from the start of the first game after the Red Hawks (12-5) posted five runs in the first inning. Brummer drove in two runs in the bottom of the first with an RBI single and a sac fly by Salerno cut Ripon's advantage to 5-3 going into the second inning. The Red Hawks scored one run in the second and five more in the fourth inning to push their lead to eight runs. Dietz hit an RBI single right before Brummer picked up another RBI in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Ripon held on to its lead to secure the opening win.
Dietz, Volkening, and sophomore
Delaney Johnson each picked up multiple hits in the game.
Second Game
Ripon jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of home runs to start the second game, but the Pioneers quickly overtook the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the second inning behind hits by Jackson, Volkening, freshman
Delila Liston, and Dietz. Ripon then tied the game at five runs in the fourth inning and a grand slam in the fifth quickly shifted momentum to the Red Hawks. Ripon went on to score five more runs to the Pioneers' one to win 14-6.
Dietz paced the Pioneers in the nightcap, finishing 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
The Pioneers will return to action on Thursday, April 2 when they travel to Loras College for a doubleheader.
