PLATTEVILLE, Wis. The University of Wisconsin-Platteville improved to 2-2 in conference duals and 2-6 overall with a 31-18 victory over UW-Oshkosh Wednesday night in Williams Fieldhouse.
The Titans drop to 2-8 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
Junior
Chris Karbash set the tone in the 125-pounds match with a win by pinfall over JP Culver (4:57). The Titans took the next match by 5-1 decision, but freshman
Owen Becker doubled the Pioneers' score to 12 in the 141 match when he pinned Logan Harel (5:57).
The teams exchanged technical falls and then pinfalls across the next four matches. Freshmen
Adam Whittier won by technical fall (21-3, 6:31) in the 157-pounds match and
Dawson McConnell pinned Nathan Lenz-Messman (6:15) at 174 pounds.
The Titans picked up a major decision in the 184-pounds match to draw within five, 23-18, with two classes remaining, but a victory by technical fall (17-2, 7:00) for sophomore
Kain Killmer secured the victory for the Pioneers. Junior
Jackson Kirsch then closed the night strong as he pulled ahead in the third period of the final match to win by decision (9-4).
The Pioneers will return to action this weekend when they travel to Cornell's Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational on Saturday.
