Pioneers Wrap Up UW-Platteville Invite

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams completed day two of the Pioneers Invitational on Saturday afternoon, with several athletes earning strong finishes from the UW-Platteville Track and Field Complex.

Men's Highlights

Senior Zach Zenner posted a third-place finish in the 400m, running a strong time of 48.64 seconds. Senior Spencer Vanek was right behind, taking fourth at 48.70 seconds.

The quartet of Haddon Burroughs, Ethan Schneider, Logan Pasakarnis, Alex Geissler placed fourth in the 4x400m relay behind a time of 3:24.59.

Andrew Zimmerman finished the 800m in a time of 1:54.11, which was good for fifth in the event. Junior Joshua Stone also finished inside the top eight, taking seventh at 1:54.53.

UW-Platteville's 4x100m relay team of Owen Tetting, Kadyn Dixon, Connor Curry, and Daniel Inyang finished sixth placed sixth behind a time of 42.71 seconds. Inyang also finished in a three-way tie for fourth in the high jump at 1.90m.

Junior McKade Jelinek placed third in the discus, with his top mark of 49.66 coming on his opening throw. Sophomore Cohen Pfohl finished sixth in the shot put, posting a mark of 16.24m on his fifth attempt of the day.

In the 1500m, sophomore Spencer Thiry took sixth while running a 4:05.64. Junior Dylan King placed ninth in that event at 4:12.17.

Senior Samuel LaPean placed eighth in the javelin, throwing 48.98m. Freshman Brandyn Beahm tied for sixth in the pole vault at 4.45m.

Women's Highlights

Senior Brenna Noon was the winner in the shot put, reaching 14.00m on her final throw of the day claim the top spot in the event.

The Pioneers 4x100m relay team of Haley Stannard, Elianna Dalamangas, Madison Ahrens, Kayla Lipsey placed fifth, running a time of 48.13 seconds. Dalamangas (12.62 seconds), Ahrens (12.71), and Stannard (12.90) also scored in the 100m dash, placing sixth through eighth, respectively.

Dalamangas put together a strong showing in the triple jump as well, finishing fourth overall by posting a mark of 10.97m. She reached that distance on both of her final two attempts of the afternoon.

Sophomore Evelyn Troxel earned a top eight finish in the pole vault, placing seventh overall by reaching 3.51m.

Freshman Josephine Yurs finished eighth in the 400m, posting a time of 59.01 seconds. In Saturday's 5K run, junior Angela Meiners took fourth at 20:30.94.

The Pioneers will send select athletes to the Loras Easter Mid-Week meet on Tuesday afternoon in Dubuque, Iowa.
