Pioneers Fall to No. 5 Eagles

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team (0-2, 0-1 WIAC) fell 39-3 Wednesday evening to No. 5 ranked UW-La Crosse (5-0, 1-0 WIAC) Wednesday evening inside Williams Fieldhouse.

Junior Jackson Kirsch finished the night strong for the Pioneers with a 9-3 victory in the 285 match. Tied 3-3 going into the third period, a caution point followed by an escape and takedown by Kirsch removed the Eagle's hopes of a shutout.

The Pioneers will return to action on Friday night when they host the University of Dubuque at 6 p.m. in Wlliams Fieldhouse. The dual will be the team's annual Headlocking Hunger event and fans can receive free admission by donating at least two non-perishable food items at the door.
