STEVENS POINT, Wis. – A late major decision and fall lifted the University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team (1-3, 1-2 WIAC) to a 25-23 comeback win over UW-Stevens Point (1-2, 1-2 WIAC) Wednesday night. 

The Pioneers had an uphill battle from the start following a forfeit at 125 pounds, but sophomore Brady Grennan evened the score in the 133 bout with a fall (5:39). Freshman Owen Becker's 8-6 decision at 141 pounds gave UW-Platteville it's first lead of the night. 

The advantage went back to the Pointers until freshman Adam Whittier pinned his opponent (4:17) in the 157 match. However, UW-Stevens Point then went on a three-bout run, including a major decision and pin fall, to take a 23-15 lead going into the final two matches. 

Sophomore Kain Killmer kicked off the comeback with an 18-10 major decision at 197 pounds. Junior Jackson Kirsch then answered with a quick victory by fall (1:34) to close out the Pioneers rally and conference win. 

The Pioneers will now turn around and travel to UW-Whitewater for a 7 p.m. dual against the Warhawks on Thursday, Dec. 11.
