DECORAH, Iowa – Sophomore
Kain Killmer's major decision over the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the nation highlighted the University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team's weekend at the Luther College Open. Killmer and freshman
Owen Becker were the two place finishers at the event.
Wrestling in the 197 Elite bracket, Killmer advanced all the way to the championship match and took second place after a gritty day of wrestling. The Pioneer's day consisted of a fall over Jake Howell of the University of Iowa, a 15-7 major decision over No. 1 Ian Pepple of UW-Eau Claire, and a fall over Cal Dorota from Wartburg in the semifinals.
Becker also finished on the podium, wrestling to a 6
th place finish in the 141 Silver Bracket. Becker hit his daily match limit before the placing matches so no placing matches were held.
More results to come once final results are complete.
The Pioneers will take a break from competition until Wednesday, Dec. 3 when they host UW-La Crosse at 6 p.m. in Williams Fieldhouse.
