PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team dropped a WIAC home dual 42-3 to nationally ranked UW-Eau Claire. The Blugolds (18-4, 3-1 WIAC) managed to take all, but one match from the Pioneers (1-2, 1-2 WIAC) on Friday night inside Williams Fieldhouse.
Junior David Cushman (7-2) took home the team's lone victory of the night at 157 pounds with a 2-1 decision over Colton Sund. The match remained scoreless through the first period and until an escape by Sund in the second period. With the fans on their feet, Cushman tied the match with an escape of his own in the third and battled to the end to use 1:27 of riding time to secure the win.
Next up, the Pioneers will hit the road next weekend for Wheaton's Pete Wilson Invite on Friday, Jan. 26.
