ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams concluded competition at the Augustana Meet of Champions on Saturday in Rock Island, Ill.
Men's Highlights
Senior Justin Eichler won the hammer throw with a toss of 59.51m. The mark was less than a meter shy of his previous personal best and school record throw from last year. Sophomore Andrew Cunningham finished seventh in the hammer throw with a new personal best of 49.34m.
Sophomore Dale Yerges finished sixth in the decathlon with a total of 4885 points. Yerges recorded a pair of second-place finish in the decathlon 110m hurdles (16.07) and 1500m (5:08.24) and was sixth in the discus (27.54m) to highlight his performance on day two. Across the two days of decathlon events, Yerges set new personal bests in the 100m, shot put, discus, javelin, and 1500m.
Women's Highlights
Senior Paulina Wienke placed sixth in the hammer throw at 46.33m, her second-best throw of the outdoor season.
Junior Kayla Lipsey finished fifth overall in the heptathlon with 3139 points. Lipsey took fifth in the 800m (2:54.93), eighth in the javelin (22.08m), and ninth in the long jump (4.04m) on day of the heptathlon.
With under two weeks until the WIAC Outdoor Championships, the Pioneers will head to the three-day Drake Relays next weekend. The meet begins on Thursday and concludes next Saturday.
