ROANOKE, VA – University of Wisconsin-Platteville sophomore Tyler Hannah closed out his 2022-23 campaign Saturday afternoon with a 197-pounds sixth place finish at the NCAA DIII Championships inside the Berglund Center. Hannah's podium finish joins Friday's accomplishment of becoming the 23rd wrestler in program history to earn NCAA DIII All-America honors.
As a team, Hannah and freshman Aiden Brosinski (157) scored 11.5 points to finish 30 of 71 teams.
Finishing 2-0 on Friday, Hannah opened the second day of competition with a quarterfinal match against the ultimate division champion, Massoma Endene of Wartburg. The low-scoring match concluded with the Knight holding on for a 2-1 decision, sending Hannah to the consolation side of the bracket.
Hannah wrestled Dylan Harr of Johnson and Wales in the consolation semifinal and Harr advanced to the third place match with a 3-1 decision victory. Hannah moved to the fifth place match where the Pioneer was paired once again with Doug Byrne of Baldwin Wallace. Hannah advanced to the quarterfinal the previous night with a win by fall over Byrne. In Saturday's rematch, it was Byrne who pulled ahead with a 4-2 decision.
Overall, Hannah finished the season 32-8 and became the first sophomore to earn All-America honors at UW-Platteville since Jesse Milks' sixth place finish in 2008.
