Pioneer track and field competes at Eagle Open

La Crosse, Wis. – The Pioneers competed at the Eagle Open hosted at UW-La Crosse on Friday, May 13. The first of two opportunities leading up to the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships, UW-Platteville athletes look to improve upon their times and marks in order to qualify.

Highlights from today include a few personal bests from Pioneer men and women, along with a few Pioneers exploring their limits in new events. A full listing of results can be found at letsgopioneers.com.

Next week, a select group of Pioneers will travel to last chance meets hosted at Augustana College and UW-La Crosse on Thursday, May 19 in a final attempt to qualify to the national championships.

 

Pioneer Men

Cade VanHout – Competed in a career first, an open 400m dash. He ran 48.43 seconds, ranking among the top 30 fastest 400m times in the nation.

Riley Coulter – Ran 9:51.78 in the 3,000m steeplechase, a personal best time.

Logan Bell – Ran 15:11.05 in his first 5,000m race of his outdoor track and field career.

Jason Gleichauf – He ran 15.26 seconds in the 110m hurdle finals, a personal best by 0.30 seconds.  

Dylan Miller – The freshman competed in his first 800m run of his career, clocking 2:01.08.

Jarrod Vis – Finished the day with a 4.54m (14-10.75) clearance in the pole vault.

 

Pioneer Women

Paige Taylor – Threw a personal best in the hammer throw, marking a throw of 36.53m (119-10).

Kirstie Ramsey – Ran a lifetime best in the 800m, crossing the finish line is 2:17.32.

Caitlin Gorge – In the 1500m, Gorge ran a season best time of 5:07.85.

Jessica Buss – As a finale to her collegiate career, Buss ran in the 400m hurdles one more time, clocking 1:06.43.

Brynlee Nelson – Competed in the high jump, long jump, and javelin. In high jump, she cleared 1.43m (4-8.25). In long jump, she marked a jump of 5.20m (17-0.75). In javelin, Nelson threw 28.92m (94-10).
