PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team was able to put their local course knowledge to use over the weekend as they hosted the Pioneer Invitational at Platteville Golf and Country Club. The Pioneers finished second out of five teams after posting a 36-hole team score of 729 strokes (363, 366).
Leading the way for the Pioneers and placing second overall out of 30 golfers was senior Markie Ash. Ash posted a two-round score of 166 after rounds of 85 and 81. Placing fifth overall was sophomore Josie Alm after shooting a two-day score of 180 (86,94). This was Alm's highest finish of the season.
Rounding out the top five for the Pioneers was freshman Jada Chang (97,93) with 190 strokes, senior Cortney Olsen (95,105) with 200 strokes, and senior Emily (104,98) with 202 strokes.
Competing as individuals for the Pioneers was sophomore Elizabeth Roodhouse shooting a 36-hole score of 186 (93,93) and finished tied eighth overall. Freshman Madeline Ritter shot a 205 (95, 110), freshman Nicole Sedam finished with a 209 (104,105), and freshman Emma Cage shot 210 (104,106).
The Pioneers will tee it up next at the Highland Classic in Rock Island, Illinois on April 30.
