REEDSBURG, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team finished sixth out of eight teams at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's) at the Reedsburg Country Club. The Pioneers shot a 54-hole team score of 1,051 strokes with a first round 357, second round 352, and third round 342.
UW-Whitewater claimed the 2021 title with a three-round total of 958 strokes. Rounding out the top three was UW- La Crosse (969) and UW- Eau Claire (976).
Wrapping up a stellar season was senior Markie Ash who finished in third place out of 69 golfers. Ash shot a 54-hole score of 236 after rounds of 79-78-79. This is the second best 54-hole score a Pioneer has had, only behind Ash's 233 in 2019.
Placing second on the Pioneers team and 30th overall, was senior Emily Veenhuis after a tournament total of 263 (90-90-83). Rounding out the team's top five were sophomore Josie Alm with a 280 (92-94-94), freshman Jada Chang also with a 280 (96-94-90), and senior Cortney Olsen shooting 281 (101-90-90).
Competing as individuals for the Pioneers were freshman Madeline Ritter shooting 280 (92-98-90), freshman Emma Cage shooting 294 (96-101-97), and freshman Alexandria Ramos shooting 301 (97-101-103).
