UW-Platteville Finishes Fifth at UW-Whitewater Spring Fling

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team finished fifth at the UW-Whitewater Spring Fling on Friday.

The Pioneers were led by the tied for 16th place finish by Kellsey Welter, who shot a 90. She was joined in the top 30 by Kelsey Lieving, who was 28th (95) and Katie Gregorich, who tied for 30th (98).

Host UW-Whitewater won the team title with a team total of 336 for a 13-stroke advantage over runner-up, UW-Stevens Point. Claudia Rhein, who was playing as an individual for the Warhawks, was the medalist with an 80.

To round out the UW-Platteville lineup, Kerrie Liske shared 32nd place with a 99 and Stacy Heiling tied for 36th with a 102. The Pioneers will play in their final tournament of 2011-12 on Sunday at the Broadlands Golf Course as part of the Carroll Invite in North Prairie, Wisconsin.
