At the 2012 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, T.J. Wunnicke of UW-Platteville posted a 1-2 mark at 133 pounds in La Crosse.

The Dodgeville native entered the tournament as the No. 8 seed and won his first match on Friday with a first period pin. He pinned Joseph Schwartz of Wesleyan (CT) in 2:32 for his 23rd pin of the season.

Next, he lost to No. 1 seed Seth Ecker of Ithaca, who is the defending champion, by a 5-2 score in the quarterfinals. In the consolation bracket, he dropped a 5-3 overtime decision to Joseph Grippi of Springfield.

Wunnicke finishes the season with a 31-7 overall record and 27-5 mark against NCAA Division III competition.
